June 7, 2013 - Padres at Rockies

 

The Rockies came out swinging and had an 8-2 lead after two innings, but a bullpen implosion in the seventh inning by Rob Scahill and Josh Outman (second image above, after the mess was handed to Wilton Lopez, who made the last out of the inning) allowed the game to be tied up after 7. April 7, 2013 - Padres at Rockies

Sunday I went a little rogue in my coverage of the Rockies game. I shot up high to check out the new angles then stayed up on the concourse from the end of the game. I made some different pictures for me, which was good to try when the matchup isn't particularly compelling. The game went fine for the Rockies and for me, with most of the props due to my new camera body that just nails focus for me, making my job easy (first time I've had one that works this well.). Drew Pomeranz is called up and goes six solid innings giving up one run on two hits and three walks, yet the Rockies lose the rubber match to the San Diego Padres. Yasmani Grandal, the who was called up the same day, made Major League history on June 30 as he hit homeruns from each side of the plate for the first two hits of his career. Another unlikely homerun hitter, shortstop Alexi Amarista, also had two in the game, as the Padres beat the Rockies 8-4 on a fireworks night. Photos copyright Getty Images.

July and August provide some nice sunsets. The Padres may be leading the NL west, but I still think they are a pretty boring team, so I'll take an opportunity like this to check the stadium out from up high.

April 10, 2010 - Padres at Rockies

Padres handed the Rockies a 14 inning loss. Still adjusting to shooting the slower game of baseball as compared to hockey. The Padres are not the most inspiring team but I had a few I liked.

The Toddfather, Todd Helton, has been good in '10 but looks a little fragile to me. Here he reacts after smashing himself in the shin or foot.

HR for Iannetta. He's got pop, needs to work on the AVG.

Latos got lit up. 2 homer night for Hawpe, who is rounding the bases in the background as Latos thries to shrug it off.

April 9, 2010 - Opening Day / Padres at Rockies

Opening day at Coors. This is a drinking event in Denver. The fans got what they would have hoped for in the win, and as a bonus, a surprising and awesome performance from the pitching staff. De La Rosa, Betancourt, and Rogers combined for a two-hit shutout. It was great to see the look on Esmil Rogers' face after he retired Adrian Gonzalez in the top of the 9th with a strikeout.
