A three-run homer from Adam LaRoche and a pair of runs later on would hand the Rockies an opening game loss against the Dbacks. This Monday night game though was special for being the 15th anniversary of Coors Field opening night, where Dante Bichette smacked a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 14th inning on April 26, 1995. Bichette threw out the first pitch to former teammate Larry Walker and was recognized by the owners of the Rockies. I grabbed a decent frame of the former Blake Street Bombers after the ceremonial first pitch.
Former Rockies players and Blake Street Bombers Dante Bichette, right, and Larry Walker share a laugh after Bichette threw out the ceremonial first pitch during a ceremony for Bichette before a regular season Major League Baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
Colorado Rockies second baseman Clint Barmes (12) can't handle a throw from the catcher attempting to throw out Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young stealing 2nd base.
Dan Haren was good, striking out ten Rockies in 8 innings of work.
It wasn't actually THIS cold. But thanks to this ump for the image.
