I had the wonderful honor of shooting a colleague's wedding at the home of the Denver Broncos for my first wedding assignment in over five years, and it felt great. After spending the last year or two admiring the work of fellow shooters, most significantly, Justin's and Sam's, I was ready to dive back in to this type of shooting and I'm really happy with the set I made.
Kathy and Trevor somehow had access to the entirety of Sports Authority Field at Mile High, including the field, the locker rooms, the underbelly, the seats, and the Champions' Club, where the ceremony and reception were held. We had a great time making pictures all over the stadium, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful, simple, and intimate ceremony and reception.
A special thanks to young Jackson, the two-year-old blonde kid above, who, has a great eye and was really fun to shoot the reception with. I have to give the him the props he deserves, too, since the image above of the groom Trevor and his daughter enjoying a moment on the dance floor was taken by this young dude.
My set reflects the uniqueness of the venue and the amount of fun that we all had and the laid-back attitude Kathy and Trevor both displayed on this wonderful spring day with their friends. I wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
Sunday I went a little rogue in my coverage of the Rockies game. I shot up high to check out the new angles then stayed up on the concourse from the end of the game. I made some different pictures for me, which was good to try when the matchup isn't particularly compelling. The Rockies had mostly bench players int he lineup and the Padres are a AAA team with a few exceptions. All photos copyright Getty Images 2013.
The Rockies rolled through their home-opening-weekend against the Padres and I was called to capture it. The game went fine for the Rockies and for me, with most of the props due to my new camera body that just nails focus for me, making my job easy (first time I've had one that works this well.). Exciting game for all in attendance, though the Red Wings were never behind and ended up scoring the game winner in OT with less than a minute to play. Datsyuk and Zetterberg had some of the niftiest goals I've ever seen. Red ings fans always bring the noise, though the home crowd had a very nice "Red Wings Suck" chant going in the third period. These games always have way-above-average energy and I enjoy that. Thanks for looking.
