I've been shooting "The Freak" since 2008 and I always enjoy it, but unfortunately he just doesn't dominate like he used to. The mighty Yankees coming to town, lacking most of the star power, and still give the crowd a show. We saw Mariano Rivera, we saw Ichiro, we saw a bad call at first base lead to a Yankees win, and we saw Vernon Wells play third base for the first time as a professional. According to a new acquaintance, Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Joe Maddon likes to tell reporters that he doesn't mind "meat loafing" teams, or, is pretty happy winning 2 out of 3 games ("two out of three ain't bad"). April 27, 2013 - Wild at Avalanche

 

Last minute assignment to shoot the Wild as they attempt to make the playoffs with either a victory and/or a Blue Jackets loss, both occur, and the Wild go back to Minnesota happy. The word in the arena was that this would be Milan Hejduk's last NHL game, so I watched for chances to shoot him as well.

April 27, 2013 - Armstrong's soccer game

 

Armstrong plays hard, has a great attitude, and has a great time at soccer. Really fun to see, despite the super-harsh 11:00 am light.

April 20, 2013 - Diamondbacks at Rockies

The Rockies cruised to victory over the Diamondbacks on their way to a 16-11 April. Cody Ross and Kirk Gibson were ejected and a blast from the past, Eric Chavez, hit a sweet homerun for the losing team. All photos copyright Getty Images 2013.

April 17, 2013 - Ganja Gourmet

I got a note from Mclatchey's D.C. news bureau asking my availablity on Wednesday, April 17, without any further details. Sure, I was available. They wanted some images to go along with an article about Colorado's upcoming status as a marijuana enthusiasts' vacation destination, and the agency had set up an interview at a marijuana dispensary near my house, that actually specializes in edibles.

The shop owner was up skiing and had "intended to cancel the interview" but forgot to let the reporter know, so instead of cancelling, he was just really late, and his employees were really nervous that there were reporters inside the business. It was an interesting assignment and shoot.
