November 12, 2011 - Arizona at Colorado

Running back Tony Jones celebrates a nice TD catch & run. The Buffs would never trail the Wildcats. The final score was 48-29 for the home team.

November 2-13, 2011 - Dawson's stay at Denver Health NICU

On Wednesday morning, November 2, some mix of barometric pressure, Carolyn's body, and her little passenger's, led to the birth of Dawson. He came early but he came strong, 4 lbs, 12 oz, and 18.25 inches of pure Bradford boy. Because of his gestational age of 34 weeks, and despite his clean bill of health, a fairly lengthy NICU stay was required by the Pediatric doctors at Denver Health. It was a joyful time, despite the barrage of personnel and equipment we all had to deal with for his first several days. We were able to spend as much as 24 hours a day with him, and we did very nearly that (relying on the NICU nurses as Denver's most expensive and skilled babysitters for an hour or two, here and there).





The little man tried a few different feeding techniques to avoid "nipple confusion" but in the end, a mix of bottle and breastfeeding allowed him to go home. Here, he's fed through a tiny tube as he sucks on mom's finger.

The monitoring and other equipment. Most of it went unused for his stay but it made for a Gilliam-esque setting for our stay.


Each limb had a monitor of some sort in use for the first few hours of his life. Over the days, these would come off one by one to reveal our son.

Bubbles indicated that he was producing a needed substance to help his premature little lungs do their job.

October 30, 2011 - Kings at Avalanche

Nice win for a team having a hard time winning, especially at home.

October 22, 2011 - Oregon at Colorado

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei (80) is inches short of a touchdown. The play was initially ruled a touchdown but was then overturned. The photographer thought that Tuinei broke the plane before being down.

The Ducks barely needed any kind of team solidarity between halves of the game. The team "put the brakes on" in the second half and ended up with a 45-2 win over the Buffaloes.

A Colorado running back is swarmed.

Oregon cheerleaders didn't feel the urge to cheer during the fourth quarter.

Superfans.

October 20, 2011 - Blackhawks at Avalanche

New starting goalie Semyon Varlamov was awesome in this home start for the Avalanche, but the Blackhawks got to him twice.

October 15, 2011 - Boise State at Colorado State

I made the quick trip up to Fort Collins to catch fifth ranked Boise State Broncos do their thing at Sonny Lubick Field.


Doug Martin basically willed the defenders to fall onto their faces on the artificial turf.

Kellen Moore had 330+ yards passing in just over two quarters, and came off the field happy after connecting for one of four touchdown passes.

The sunset was blue and orange, and not for the NFL Broncos...

Cam the Ram "thought my camera was food" according to the handlers.
