January 12, 2013 - AFC Divisional Game - Ravens at Broncos

A game that was predicted to be a tidy home win for the Broncos, featuring two teams known for their sound defensive play, ended up being an offensive blowout for both teams. The Broncos had help from their 169-lb, 5' 5" kickoff returner Trindon Holliday's two return touchdowns, while the Ravens took advantage of the Broncos poor ball handling including a Manning fumble and two interceptions. For me personally the game was a challenge due to the temperature and the crowded sideline, and I had a mix of good luck and not as good. Demaryius Thomas' fourth quarter touchdown (which could have been the game winner) came right to me, while I ignored my hunch about Trindon Holliday's return prowess and missed his record-breaking second return of the game by traveling to the wrong side of the field at the start of the second half. Equipment and finger function were negatively affected by the freezing temperatures. Between the three of us working the game we did make some nice pictures and it was a very cool experience. November 30, 2012 - Aussie Rules St. Kilda team meets with Denver Broncos

Once again, for the third time in two weeks, I found myself a VIP and a photographer out of my normal element (first as a wedding crasher then escorted underground with some miners in Idaho). This time I tagged along with a handful of players and coaches with St. Kilda Saints, a professional Aussie Rules football team in town to train at altitude in Boulder. The contingent watched some Broncos practice, toured the NFL team's Dove Valley headquarters, and met with a few players and coaches. The highlight for me was walking through the Bronco's locker room while the players were practicing. All their personal effects and half of their gear was strewn about the room and the St. Kilda guys and I just took it in. It was not the most photogenic photo opp, but I think the guys enjoyed it and I made a few pictures. Images copyright Getty Images 2012.
